Canco Petroleum, founded in 2016 as an independent chain, has become a dynamic alternative to traditional big-box retailers in the gas and retail sector. With over 15 years of combined experience, Canco is dedicated to driving market leadership while fostering both business and community growth. Our Kelowna location, which includes a gas station, retail store, car wash, and Chester's, is one of our busiest, and we are looking for an Inventory Planner to join our team. In this role, the Inventory Planner will work closely with the managers of each business unit to ensure seamless coordination and efficient inventory management across all operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels of materials and equipment, ensuring smooth operations at all times. Flexibility to work weekends and occasional night shifts is required, along with a strong ability to foster communication and teamwork. This role is critical to ensuring that all business units operate smoothly and are adequately supplied, with a focus on cost efficiency and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Responsibilities
- Review requisition orders for accuracy, ensuring that required materials, equipment, and stock are not available in current inventories across all business units.
- Collaborate with established vendors and suppliers to source and obtain price quotations, ensuring that purchase orders reflect optimal pricing and terms for the company.
- Calculate the total costs of orders, ensuring proper allocation and forwarding of invoices to the appropriate accounts for each business unit.
- Process purchases in accordance with company purchasing authority, adhering to established policies and operational guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels across all business units, assessing purchasing needs to ensure timely replenishment of stock, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinate with suppliers to schedule deliveries and address issues related to shortages, missed deliveries, and other supply chain challenges.
- Prepare and maintain detailed purchasing files, reports, and price lists to support efficient decision-making and streamline procurement processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with current vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with internal business managers to align purchasing activities with operational needs and goals, ensuring smooth and efficient inventory management.
- Analyze inventory usage trends and vendor performance to optimize purchasing strategies and improve overall procurement efficiency.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary education.
- Experience in purchasing management is preferred.
- Ability to operate computerized purchasing or inventory systems effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
