Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
Reporting to the Plant Accountant & Admin Manager, the Payroll Clerk will support the financial needs of the plant, with primary focus on the Payroll. In addition to other administration duties, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the unionized and non-unionized payrolls in Armstrong. Must maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality. Will support the Plant Accountant in ensuring the finance team provides meaningful and timely information that is used to not only run, but improve the business.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the data collection and input of payroll data (timecards). Responsible for ensuring all payroll, benefit & operations systems are maintained, and system integrity exists for accurate reporting and auditing requirements. Ensuring all associate data is up to date and accurate.
- Responsible for the processing of a non-unionized payroll and a bi-weekly unionized work team payroll ensuring Employment Standards and Collective Agreement pay requirements are met. Handle all irregularities with leaders ensuring accurate reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring systems (SAP, Payroll, etc.) are updated with accurate employee data submitting changes as appropriate to Kohler and payroll/benefits vendors.
- Support the Plant Accountant and HR Manager in the reporting of payroll & headcount related metrics and financial information for the business; helping to ensure financial information is to be made available to the business and Kohler Co. management on a timely basis.
- Provide additional accounting and administration related duties as required by the Plant Accountant or other Managers.
- Provide support as needed to Human Resources including assistance with recruiting initiatives, tracking HR metrics, providing associates with employment information/letters, and the creation of union reports (ie Seniority Lists).
- Administrative duties including reception, and support of company social & stewardship initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the Plant Accountant and required for the ongoing development of the business.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to Plant Accountant & Administration Manager.

Organizational and External Relationships:
- Works closely with all Plant Management & the Administration team.
- Provides support to the HR Manager - Canada
- Occasional contact with corporate HR and Corporate HR services.
- Payroll & Benefits providers and vendors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required, a diploma/degree in a related field (business/accounting) is preferred and hold or be working towards a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation. A minimum of one year experience processing payroll for a medium to large size organization. Must have office environment work experience. Must be fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook), accounting and payroll software experience is necessary, combined with a typing speed of 40 or more wpm.
