We serve traditional, innovative and authentic South Indian Cuisine including our specialty dosas, as well as curries and vegetarian specialties.

 

We bring our craft to your plate with unearthing traditional recipes and mastered cooking skills. We created a menu for everyone with traditional and creative recipes that pair wonderfully with our selection of wines and fine spirits. One of our main goals is to present delicious South Indian dishes with a combination of amazing flavours, tenderness and aroma to satisfy the taste of our customers, while they sit and relax enjoying the food, the atmosphere and our exceptional service. We need two Kitchen Helpers to assist our kitchen staff at our busy restaurant.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Ethnic Food Cook to join our culinary team, specializing in authentic South-Indian cuisine. The ideal candidate who is dedicated, creative, and has a deep understanding of traditional South-Indian cooking techniques and flavors. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of Indian dishes, ensuring high standards of quality, taste, and presentation. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with our kitchen staff to maintain a fast-paced, dynamic environment while upholding the highest levels of hygiene and efficiency.

 

JOB TITLE: Ethnic Food Cook

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Prepare and cook complete ethnic South-Indian cuisine dishes such as variety of dosas, biryani, curries etc.
  • Stock inventory required to make authentic items appropriately.
  • Follow and execute chef direction for preparing dishes.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation/hygiene regulations.
  • Clean up station and store leftover food in appropriate conditions.
  • Manage and train staff such as food servers, dishwashers and kitchen helpers. Lead the kitchen helpers according to your own needs to avoid long wait times.
  • Must be able work without supervision and oversee all kitchen operations to ensure smooth service.
  • Observe and maintain the presentation standards of food up to company standards.
  • Keep a track of the food stocks and other supplies, and maintain inventory according to avoid any disruptions in service.
  • Ensure that food safety procedures are followed as instructed in company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen area.
  • Clean the Kitchen area and all equipment after the service is over.  

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • 2-4 years of commercial cooking experience with at least one year out of that as ethnic Indian cuisine cook is required
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to work in kitchen for extended hours.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.

 

WAGES:  $29/Hour

HOURS OF WORK: 
40 hours per week

 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.

 

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
